Sponsored post brought to you by our partners at South Plains Mall, but thoughts and opinions are our own.

The original is back and better than ever! Lubbock Moms is proud to present our 3rd annual Holiday Advent Calendar! This list has been specifically curated for our Lubbock Moms followers and their families.

New this year, we’ve partnered with South Plains Mall to bring you a life-size, in-person version of this calendar, plus we have special treats and goodies from the Mall just for our followers. Check back throughout the month for exclusive discount codes and offers from South Plains Mall, or visit them in person between Aeropostale and H&M to browse through these fun local traditions.

We always loved (and still love!) opening each little door on our chocolate advent calendar, counting down the days to Christmas. We hope you’ll get the same little thrill as you open each window to browse through our favorite holiday traditions and pastimes, one for every day in December. And even if Christmas is not your thing, we hope you’ll find ways to give back to the community and enjoy the magic of this holiday season in your unique way.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hannukah, or just a well-deserved break with your loved ones, we here at Lubbock Moms hope you have a happy one filled with love, peace, and joy.

December 1

Ring in the holiday season by visiting South Plains Mall and selecting an Angel from the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Your family will love shopping for just the right doll or truck for one of the Angel Tree recipients. Drop off your donations by December 9 to ensure all of our local kids have a festive holiday season.

December 2

One of our favorite holiday traditions is to view the incredible Christmas trees at Holland Gardens. Pick out a new ornament or just ooh and aah over the fantastic decorations – and bring your camera in case you run into Santa! (He’s usually there on weekends and his photos are free!)

December 3

Visit either Betenbough Homes for their annual Christmas event, with complimentary hot cocoa, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday crafts, and Christmas music. Event runs 6pm-8pm at both locations of their new home centers at 6517 82nd Street and 13715 University Avenue

December 4

Visit South Plains Mall for Breakfast with Santa! Beginning at 9am kids will enjoy breakfast, Santa visits, crafts from Premiere Cinemas and a Jingle Bell Parade to the movie theater (with purchase of a ticket) to watch a special screening of Polar Express

December 5

South Plains Mall is again hosting their “Sensory Santa” experience. This special event is just for little ones who need a smaller crowd, quieter music, and a more low-key experience. Begins at 9:30am in Grand Court at South Plains Mall.

December 6

The Marines’ Toys For Tots programs provides toys to less fortunate children in our community. The last day to donate is December 9, so you still have plenty of time to purchase a toy (or several) and drop them off at one of their donation sites

December 7

New this year, Los Hermanos Familia is proud to present their Warm Hearts campaign. This campaign provides warm clothing to children in kinship families, or those children being raised by a family member other than their parents. Many fantastic organizations in our community provide coats to people who need them, but oftentimes kids don’t have warm socks, gloves, or hats. Have your child help you select socks, gloves, scarves, and/or hats, and drop them at Tumbleweed and Sage coffee house by December 9. Let’s show these families that we care!

December 8

Special deal from Premiere Cinemas at South Plains Mall! Mention Lubbock Moms this holiday seasons and you’ll get a FREE regular popcorn with purchase of movie tickets – the perfect pick-me-up for all that holiday shopping!

December 9

The Party Girls! The Polichinelles and Mother Ginger! The Big Rat! It must be opening night for Ballet Lubbock’s production of The Nutcracker! This year’s show will run from December 9-12, and Herr Drosselmeyer has some special magic in store for this year’s inaugural show at Buddy Holly Hall, including all new sets. You’ve never seen The Nutcracker like this before.

December 10

The National Ranching Heritage Center will host its 43rd Annual “Candlelight at the Ranch” on December 10 and 11. Candlelight is a Lubbock tradition; visitors will experience what Christmas was like on the open prairie in the pioneer days, all guided by the light of over 4,000 luminarias and the help of more than 150 volunteers.

December 11

Lubbock native and Broadway Star David Gaschen headlines a show at the Cactus Theater titled “A Celebration of Christmas,” the perfect way to celebrate the season with one of our native sons.

December 12

It’s the perfect day to visit a Lubbock landmark, Santa Land! This annual attraction is another Lubbock tradition with more than 50,000 visitors annually. See the huge lighted tree, visit Santa and the reindeer, and walk through the festive holiday scenes. Runs nightly from December 10-23, from 6:00pm-10:00pm.

December 13

Every Monday in December is Santa Paws! Bring your pet to South Plains Mall to get a photo of your furry friend with the big man himself, Saint Nick! Located in Grand Court by Men’s Dillards; runs from 4pm – close on December 6, December 13, and December 20.

December 14

If you have a little one who is wild about Thomas the Train (and you suspect maybe they’ll find a Thomas toy under the tree!) today is the perfect day to build some Christmas excitement by visiting the interactive exhibit at the Science Spectrum entitled “Thomas and Friends Explore the Rails”.

Runs daily through January 9.

December 15

December 17

If all you want for Christmas is a Red Ryder BB gun then you can’t miss Lubbock Community Theater’s production of the holiday classic “A Christmas Story.” The show runs weekends through December 19.

December 18

Join the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra for their holiday show “Merry and Bright” featuring guest conductor David Itkin and soloists Kristen Satterwhite and Bruce Ewing.

December 19

You can’t miss Lubbock’s “Largest Gingerbread Display” at The Overton hotel! Now in its 10th year, the display is free to visit but you can also purchase an ornament for $5 with proceeds benefitting the Texas Girls and Boys Ranch. While you’re there, the kids can write and send a letter to Santa in The Overton’s super cute Santa Mailbox and enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and photo ops.

December 20

Our kids love looking at Christmas lights, and the best show in town is located at Wayland University at 801 N Quaker. Their festive light show will open every evening through December and features a spectacular light show synchronized to music that viewers can enjoy from their vehicle.

December 21

I’m obsessed with the classic and kitschy holiday favorite “White Christmas,” and you can catch Bing Crosby on the big screen at Alamo Drafthouse on December 21 at 7:30pm. Swoon!

December 22

Maxey Community Center is hosting a Christmas Holiday Workshop for kids on December 21 and 22. Make spectacular crafts to decorate for the holidays, play some games and have some yummy treats in this 2 day Christmas workshop. Pre-registration is required by 1:00 pm on 12/18. $25 per person, ages 6-12.

December 23

Venture down the road to the beautifully restored historic Wallace Theater in Levelland for a special showing of the holiday classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Tickets are only $5 and they have two showtimes, so it’s the perfect chance to get out of the house before the Christmas chaos begins.

December 24

Many churches will hold candlelight or other special services on Christmas Eve; find a listing on our website at Lubbock Moms.
